Writing Defined

If writing is not the toughest, roughest, most pull-your-hair-out, spit-in-your-mama’s-face, rip-the-chandelier-out-of-the-ceiling, break-all-the-mirrors-in-the-house, uproot-trees-with-your-pinky-finger thing that you ever do…

You’re doing it wrong.

If it doesn’t break you, one excruciating bone at a time…

You’re doing it wrong.

If it keeps you up at night, worried you might forget a key element…

If you hum songs to yourself that you can hear playing in the background of your scenes…

If your characters speak to you, harshly, in the wee hours…

Keep going.

  1. Writing is pain, joy, and everything in between. It’s nearly as much fun as playing bass on stage in a heavy metal band and watching pretty girls shaking their stuff. LOL.
